The operators of the cruise ship that struck the reef at Crossover off Kri, Raja Ampat in March have been fined Rp6 trillion (around US$450 million) according to Tempo. The Indonesian government is seeking this sum from the owners of the Caledonian Sky basing its calculation on four components to damages: ecosystem, economy and society, ecosystem rehabilitation costs and damage claim costs. The ship damaged 18,882 square meters of marine ecosystems and some 13,270 square meters were completely destroyed.
