Canadian moviegoers will have a special treat available on 25 February. Rob Stewart’s documentary “Sharkwater” will be showing at Cineplex theaters nationwide. Admission is free in exchange for a donation to WWF Canada. The film is also available on iTunes, with proceeds from each sale or rental going towards they costs of finishing the production of “Sharkwater: Extinction.”
Rob Stewart devoted his life to sharks and their conservation. Shortly after his tragic death, Simon Rogerson of Scuba Magazine suggested that we should create a “wall” of shark images to honour his memory. Wetpixel would like to take this idea one stage further, and are seeking submissions from anyone who wishes to take part in a Full Frame feature of shark imagery devoted to Rob Stewart.
After an intensive search, Rob Stewart’s body was found by an ROV close to the wreck that he and his team was diving on late on Friday afternoon. The Wetpixel communities hearts are heavy today and our thoughts and prayers go out to his many friends and family.
Rob Stewart, producer and filmmaker of Sharkwater, has released his follow-up film Revolution to Canadian theaters. The film continues Rob’s journey, “one that will take him through 15 countries over four years, and where he’ll discover that it’s not only sharks that are in grave danger – it’s humanity itself.”
