TRT-Electronics ships the o-Turtle TTL flash trigger for Olympus

TRT-Electronics has announced their o-TURTLE TTL optical flash trigger for the Olympus mirrorless cameras. It is hot shoe mounted with a separate LED board for fiber optic triggering. It also allows for front or rear curtain flash sync.

TRT-Electronics would like to announce the first chargeable TTL trigger for Olypmus systems the o-TURTLE!

TRT-Electronics has launched the new o-TURTLE for olympus MILC systems. The o-TURTLE was tested with OMD E PL3, E-M5 , E-M5II, E-M10II, E-M1, E-M1II.

TRT-Electronics introduces our new product:

This adapter works with all Olympus MILC camera systems. It has been tested in electrical triggering mode with Sea&Sea YS-D1, YS-250, IKELITE DS series and Inon Z240 types 3/4. We have also tested it to trigger optically (with the included LEDBOARD) with YS-D1, YS-D2 and Inon Z240.

You can easily set 0-Turtle to communicate with your underwater strobes: just use the DIP switch on the bottom of the device. The user manual is available to download from the TRT-Electronics website FAQ page.

Compatible underwater strobes with LEDBOARD 5 mm (64 candela) or 3 mm (12 candela) LED (Optical sync): Inon Z-240 , Sea&Sea YS-D1, YS-D2 with multicore cables. 4 types of LED board are available.
Compatible underwater strobes with wired connection: Inon Z-240 , Sea&Sea YS-D1, YS250 , IKELITE series.
TTL outputs: 1 optical LEDs and 1 electric wire connectors (X-trigger. Quench, GND)

Installation

Optical sync: You can attach the LED BOARD in the window of the housing and connect the Turtle.

Wired sync: For the correct wiring please check the user manual or write me. (X-trigger, Quench, GND)

Yes, but the obligated setting can be overcome, the nauticam trigger allows to sync up full image up to 1/320 and almost 1/400...

Dear Andrea, I Try to tell you what i thought. The built-in flash (FL-LM3) does not know which an external diving flash is optically connected. The built-in flash feature in many cases is different from the external flash. So the external flash will not be fully drive. For example, a full flash in Sea and Sea D2 approximately 4 milisec, the internal flash can maximum 1 milisec of flash time. That's why use more photographer LED trigger.

Thank you Adam! :) ... i was just wondering if in case of the EM5 set in FP/HSS manual mode it could get optical lighting to trigger a Z240 with no real banding to 1/320 or even 1/400. Just saw it done with external triggers and some flashes.

Sync speed is determined by the camera. No external device can "improve" it!

Hi Andrea-if the built in flash provides a pre-flash for TTL metering, it cannot then recycle fast enough to deliver a full power flash.
